Job Title: Project Assistant

Location: Abuja, Nigeria
Job Duration: Project duration until 28 February 2022
Background: Provide programme support by performing a variety of project-related duties and ensuring high quality and precision of work.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Project Manager (PM), the Project Assistant will conduct the following tasks:

  • Assist the PM in the organisation of programmes in the fields of Promotion of Democracy, Security Sector Governance and Climate Change;
  • Support the PM in the planning, preparation, implementation and follow-up of programme activities;
  • Assist in the coordination of conferences, meetings, and travel reservations for selected programmes;
  • Act as the focal point for PR and Media related needs of the office;
  • Maintain FES social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter), upload new content provided by the PM;
  • Prepare brief social media posts on activities conducted;
  • Take accurate minutes of meetings, routine correspondence and reports;
  • Draft, proof-read and layout texts and documents;
  • Set up and maintain hard and soft copy filing systems for records, correspondence, and other documents related to programmes;
  • Undertake other financial and administrative tasks;
  • Fulfil other reasonable tasks assigned by the PM.

Required Skills and Experience

Education: A minimum of a University Degree in a relevant field

Skills and Experience:

  • At least one year of experience as a Project Assistant in a Non-Governmental Organisation required;
  • Experience or proven interest in the topics of Democracy Promotion, Security Sector Governance and Climate Change is an asset;
  • Experience in the use of information technology and project management will be an added advantage;
  • Excellent use of Windows 8 or higher, advance knowledge of office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.);
  • Work experience in the use of web-based communication and social media, especially Facebook and Twitter are highly considered;
  • Very good oral and writing communication skills in English;
  • Proficient drafting and language editing skills are required.
