The recent inflationary pressure in the nation has badly eroded the existing wage; the current level of wages falls short of the requirements for a National Living Wage, and the entire concept of a minimum wage promotes unjust pay packages and entrenches poverty. A Living Wage is critical to the socioeconomic and overall development of any nation, hence the gap between the existing National Wage structure and a Living Wage imperils the nation, thus calls for a national emergency.

Appropriate handling of sensitive information, supporting an inclusive approach and facilitating the process of regional networking in the media sector are essential pathways for security sector reforms. Media professionals from a wide range of formal and informal outlets, including television, radio, print and digital media, and bloggers, are important multipliers who should be engaged. This can be done through capacity building, briefing materials and press releases to improve their understanding of the media's role in security and to build their analytical capacity and conflict-sensitive reporting skills on SSG/R processes as well as on civil-military relations.
