Over one hundred (100) young workers have completed the nine (9) months training programme, which began in 2019. The youth programme focuses on strengthening the voices of young trade unionists within the trade union movement in Nigeria to help identify and address the persistent challenges affecting active youth participation in trade unions in Nigeria, develop young workers' priorities, and present the same to union leadership.

Notably, it is designed as a platform to prepare young workers to

  • ensure the mainstream of youth into existing trade union structures;
  • build networks of youth leaders within and without trade unions;
  • raise politically conscious youth leaders within trade unions;
  • organise more young workers into trade unions;
  • discuss the NLC Youth policy and promote the adoption and implementation of the youth policy in participating unions.
