Africa Industrialisation Day

Africa Industrialization Day is marked every November 20 and is to raise global awareness on the challenges faced by the continent with regards to industrialization.

In Nigeria, the 2017 Africa Industrialisation Day is commemorated against the background of the recent exit from economic recession and renewed hope for industrial revival, employment generation and poverty eradication policies advocated by the government. FES Nigeria on November 20, 2017 organized a policy roundtable with affiliates of IndustriALL in Nigeria.

The roundtable saw representatives of trade unions from Nigeria, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Ghana, the organized private sector, relevant agencies of government and the United Nations Industrial Development. The findings of a FES Study on Industrial Policies and its Implementation were presented. A call for strong emphasis on industrialisation and encouragement of local production and value addition to local products was made.
