"Open Minds, Young Voices": Beyond Election and Campaign Promises

Our inaugural cohort of the "Open Minds, Young Voices – Youth Activist Programme" hosted its first Forum "Beyond Election and Campaign Promises" aimed at empowering young people to hold leaders accountable.

Our inaugural cohort of the youth activist programme "Open Minds, Young Voices" hosted its first self-organised event. At the Forum on the topic “Beyond Election and Campaign Promises”, various representatives from civil society organisations and political parties engaged in a robust conversation.

The event had the German Ambassador to Nigeria, H.E. Bernhard Schlagheck, deliver the keynote address following an opening speech from the Resident Representative of FES Nigeria, Mr Ulrich Thum. He, as well as representatives from YIAGA Africa, TRUST Africa and the Party International Republican Institute (IRI) debated on the topic "Unmasking Active Citizenship – Youth as Social Influencers" during the first panel. Afterwards, in a second panel, representatives from ONE Campaign Nigeria, Connected Development, Reboot and the Kowa Party debated on the question "How Can Youth Hold Leaders Accountable?"
