The Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Nigeria, in collaboration with the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR) and the National Women's Platform on Security Sector Reform and Governance (NWSSRG), organized a Women-Only Civil-Military Relations training Workshop for actors in the Southeast Region of Nigeria.
The three (3) days of training, held in Enugu between 12 – 14 July 2023, brought together women leaders, civil society groups, government officials, students, and paramilitary members to foster inclusive and gender-responsive security.
As part of the #FriedrichEbertStiftung Civil-Military Relations Training Programme, the Women-Only CMR session was designed to empower and strengthen women to actively contribute to civil-military cooperation, gender equality and regional stability.
Through interactive sessions and role-playing exercises, participants gained essential knowledge and skills in conflict resolution and a deep understanding of the roles of civilians, military and Civil society in strengthening civil-military relations across Nigeria.
