The 2023 FES Nigeria Young Workers Training kicked off on March 31st 2023, with 29 Participants drawn from industrial unions affiliated to PSI, IndustriAll Global union federations, civil society organizations, informal workers associations and affiliates of the two central labour organizations -Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC). The training is designed to increase youths' active participation, involvement, and ability to influence trade union policies and programmes.

The 2023 FES Nigeria Young Workers Training had its Induction/Introductory Module from March 31st March to April 1st 2023. The Project Manager, Remi Ihejirika, introduced participants to the training, highlighting the objectives of the training to the participant. Young workers do not play active roles in trade unions and are absent in union structures. The nine months of training seeks to address these issues and equip participants with knowledge, skills and attitude to increase young people's involvement in trade union activities.

Dr Daniel Mann, the FES Nigeria Resident Representative, welcomed participants to the 9 Months training and encouraged them to use the knowledge gained to build their unions.

The introductory module titled History and Workers Struggle seeks to give participants a grounding on the History of the Trade Union Movement in Nigeria and to re-conscientize them on their roles as young workers. Comrade Owei Lakemfa, a seasoned trade unionist, journalists, and activist, facilitated the module.
